Defenders Jermaine Johnson and Michael Ricketts have given the Pitmen a boost ahead of their tough trip to Gigg Lane tomorrow, with the two players joining the Pitmen from TNS and Barrow respectively. Centre back Johnson is a former Derby County trainee, who has had two spells at Stafford Rangers before joining TNS last summer. The Pitmen made light of the windy conditions and expectant 3,300-plus crowd by racing into a two goal lead, with Chris Clements curling a brilliant first and Gary Hay firing home number two. After Michael Lennon had scored his 100th goal for Nantwich, skipper Darren Campion was sent off for an alleged elbow. A rousing second half display from Rob Smith's side saw Cheyenne Dunkley powerfully head the Pitmen level, before Jamey Osbourne was also sent off. The Pitmen have been dealt a massive blow this evening as news has filtered out of the club regarding the future of Pedro Monteiro. The former West Brom and Southampton centre back has announced he is to leave the club and take up an offer from a club closer to his Southampton home. The big defender had recently moved back to Hampshire with his family, and was travelling up to Staffordshire with his family every week for games. Having been one of the club's most consistent performers this term, Pedro's departure will leave a huge hole in the side. We thank Pedro for his efforts and wish him luck in he future | ||

Landell joins from Blue Square Bet Premier strugglers Bath City, and is a former Wolves trainee. Due to Northwich's continued involvement in the F.A. Trophy, the Pitmen now host Mickleover Sports on Saturday December 10th, with Northwich visiting Keys Park on Tuesday 31st January. Hednesford will now travel to Gigg Lane to face FC United of Manchester on Saturday 28th January, meaning a tough month is now in store for Rob Smith's side at the turn of the year | ||

The wheels began to fall off the Hednesford wagon after Dan Crane was shown a red card for handling outside the penalty area in the first half. Left winger Darren Campion went between the posts, and managed to keep the score goalless at half time. However, second half goals from Brian Cusworth (2), Jack Muldoon and Mark Ward earned the hosts a crucial three points.
