Experienced step two player, at home anywhere down the left hand side of the pitch and up front, who joined the Pitmen from Blue Square Bet North side Worcester City in June 2010

A former trainee at Walsall, he made one start and two substitute appearances for the Saddlers after signing as a professional in April 1998. He was surprisingly released by the Bescot Stadium club in November 2000, where he joined Bromsgrove Rovers for a short spell

Another short spell followed at local rivals Evesham United towards the end of the 2000-2001 season, before Dr. Martens Premier League side Newport County took him on for a five game spell in December 2001

Stafford Rangers were his next port of call in the summer of 2002, where he made twenty starts for the Marston Road club as they finished in second place, behind champions Tamworth. The summer of 2003 saw Carter on the move once again, this time via a trial period at Keys Park, where he made a handful of appearances for the Pitmen in pre-season, posing in the club's squad photo before leaving on the eve of the campaign to join fellow Dr. Martens League side Bath City

Eight appearances later at Twerton Park, Carter returned to the Midlands to finish the season at Halesowen Town, who were gunning for a title finish in the Southern League Western Division. He made five appearances as Yeltz were promoted back to the Premier Division at the end of the 2003-2004 campaign

The summer of 2004 saw Carter join the newly-created AFC Telford, who were starting their new era in UniBond Division One. Managed by Bernard McNally, Carter was one of the Bucks' first signings alongside goalkeeper Stuart Brock - two men he would join at Keys Park some years later

The season was a massive success for Carter, as he helped Telford to clinch the title and promotion to the UniBond Premier Division at the first attempt. He also had a two week trial with local rivals Shrewsbury town in November 2004, but the Gay Meadow club failed to take up the option on him. Despite the success of promotion with Telford, the player left in August 2005 and joined Welsh Premier side TNS. Unfortunately, within a fortnight of joining, he suffered a serious knee ligament injury, putting him out of much of the season

The club stuck by their man, however, and a fit Carter signed up for the 2006-2007 season, where he scored ten goals in fourteen starts as TNS swept to the title. He followed this up with eleven goals in sixteen starts the following season, with TNS just missing out on back-to-back titles by finishing behind Llanelli

After scoring six goals in nine starts in 2008-2009, he was released by the Oswestry-based club, allowing him to link up with Worcester in August 2009. After a difficult season on and off the pitch for City, manager Carl Heeley released seven players ahead of the club's return to Blue Square Bet North football for 2010, including Carter. A number of clubs from step two expressed an interest in the player, but former manager McNally managed to persuade the talented performer to make the step down and rejoin the Pitmen ahead of the club's Zamaretto Premier League season
