Aggressive midfield man who joined the Pitmen from Zamaretto League rivals Halesowen Town in July 2010

Born in California to English parents, Denny moved to the UK in 1994 after spending his formative years in the United States. Aged 13, he joined Stoke City's academy in 1999, moving up through the Potters ranks to sign a professional contract at the Britannia Stadium in the summer of 2003. He was also capped by the United States at every level up to Under-20, where he captained his country in 2005

A regular in Stoke's reserves during the next two seasons, he made eight appearances on the bench without getting on the pitch. Released in the summer of 2005, he made the relatively short move to Shrewsbury Town. His one season at Gay Meadow saw him in and out of the side, although he scored his first senior goals in a 3-2 win over Brighton & Hove Albion in a Football League Trophy game

After being released by the Shrews in the summer of 2006, he went on trial to fellow League Two side Macclesfield Town, before settling on a move to Conference North side Nuneaton Borough in October 2006. In twenty starts at Boro, Denny scored three goals, including the club's goal of the season against Stalybridge Cetlic

A return to the country of his birth was next in the offing, as Denny flew back to the United States to talk over a move to Richmond Kickers. Despite the offer, Denny decided against the move and returned to the UK, upon where he joined Southern League side Halesowen Town

In two successful seasons at the Grove, he made nearly 100 starts for the Yeltz, scoring fifteen goals in the process. Season 2006-2007 saw Halesowen make it all the way through the play off final, where they lost to Team Bath. They narrowly missed out on a repeat twelve months later, where financial problems started to dog the club

After leaving Halesowen in the summer of 2009, he trialled for Eircom League side Shamrock Rovers in a three week spell, before joining newly promoted Zamaretto League Premier side Leamington just before the start of the 2009-2010 season

After eight games for the Brakes, he returned to Halesowen, having promised to move back to the Grove once the financial issues had been sorted. He became captain of the club, as Matt Clarke's side narrowly missed out on the play offs after being hamstrung with a ten point deduction handed to them at the start of the season

Hednesford manager Bernard McNally had showed interest in the combative midfielder back in March as he looked to add quality to his play off chasing side. Patience was a virtue for McNally, as he took advantage of Halesowen's cut in playing budget to snap up the highly-rated Denny ahead of the Pitmen's first training session in July. After a slow start to he campaign, Denny made the number six shirt his own with tireless performances in midfield, complementing the creative skills of Chris Clements and Ross Davidson with his high energy levels and tough tackling

In May 2011 he was quick to agree a new deal with manager Rob Smith, further adding to the Pitmen's settled, experienced side. His unselfish, dogged performances do not go unnoticed by the Hednesford supporters, with Denny regarded as a key player in the Pitmen's line-up
