. Adaptable attacking player, once a team-mate of David Beckham and Landon Donovan at LA Galaxy, who joined the Pitmen in August 2010 Birmingham-born Patterson joined local side West Bromwich Albion as a trainee back in 1999, moving through the ranks to become a regular in the Baggies' reserve team during the 2004-2005 season. Despite this, he was released by the Hawthorns club at the end of the season, and trialled for Hereford United and AFC Bournemouth before deciding to head to the United States and try his luck across the pond After arriving in St. Louis in the summer of 2005, he turned out for the football team at the University and was named as Atlantic 10 Offensive Player of the Year for the 2007 season. He also turned out for the St. Louis Lions, who played in the USL Premier Development League, in a four year spell under former Scottish professional Tony Glavin After graduating from St. Louis University in 2008, he was given his chance to impress a wider audience in January 2009 when he was selected to take part in the 2009 MLS SuperDraft, a selection process that sees graduates selected by professional clubs in the United States. Patterson was forty eighth pick, and was selected by the glamorous LA Galaxy, who could call upon the talents of David Beckham and Landon Donovan in their squad He made his Galaxy debut on 22nd March 2009, playing in the season opener against D.C. United. He made an impact, laying on Donovan's equaliser with four minutes remaining. He made two further appearances for the Galaxy in the MLS before being loaned out to USL Premier Development League side Hollywood United Hitmen for a brief spell in May 2009 Despite linking up with Galaxy again in August 2009, where he was an unused substitute against Barcelona in a friendly, he failed to play again for the club and was waived - also known as released - in November 2009 After a number of trials, he ended a three month spell out of the game by joining Swedish First Division side GAIS Gothenburg after a successful trial in February 2010. He started ten games for the club, with ten more appearances from the bench before leaving in July 2010 Upon his return to England, he joined the Pitmen on trial, playing in the club's pre-season game against Tamworth. He was added to the squad ahead of the Pitmen's trip to Didcot Town after receiving international clearance, and scored twice on his debut. He scored a further two goals before leaving the club in October 2010, announcing he was quitting football for good. However, less than a month later, he returned to the club after having a change of heart . | ||||||||||||||||
