. Combative defensive midfielder, who can also play at right-back, who rejoined the Pitmen in August 2008 Platt signed up to the Saddlers as a pro at the start of the 2005-2006 season, and had been out on loan to local side Willenhall Town to gain first team games, before arriving at Keys Park mid-way through the season, initially on loan Impressed at Hednesford after his arrival, but could not prevent the club from being relegated from Conference North and was released at the end of the 2005-2006 season. Followed a number of Hednesford players and returned to Willenhall in the summer of 2006. Following a good season at Noose Lane, that ended in Play-off defeat to Bromsgrove Rovers, he moved up a level to join Southern League Premier side Halesowen Town in June 2007 After nearly a dozen starts at the Grove, he dropped down one division to join Willenhall for a third time, under the management of Dean Edwards. After finishing the 2007-2008 season at the Lockmen, he moved to ambitious local side Chasetown. During the summer of 2008, he played a number of friendlies for the Scholars, before Edwards, now manager of the Pitmen, put in a seven-day approach for Platt on the eve of the new season. Platt agreed to return to Keys Park, making his return in the goalless draw against Glasgow Rangers His early season form was exceptional, as he rarely put a foot wrong as the Pitmen stormed to the top of the table. However, after suffering a nasty injury in the home win over Witton Albion, Sam Hall was given his chance at right wing back, which he duly took with both hands. Platt's return from injury saw him sparring with Hall for the number two shirt for much of the remainder of the season A heavy fall in the Pitmen's home game with Whitby Town saw Platt leave the pitch holding his arm, which turned out to be broken after scans. Despite being ruled out for the rest of the season, Platt made a swift recovery, so much so that he appeared amongst the substitutes for the final match of the season against Leigh Genesis Continued his consistency for the Pitmen during the 2009-2010 season, with his early season form making him one of the early contenders for player of the year. Later in the season, he was given the captain's armband by manager Bernard McNally, leading the club to a fourth place finish and a shot at the Southern League play-offs Has agreed to continue playing for the Pitmen for the 2010-2011 season after swiftly signing a new deal for the club . | ||||||||||||||||
